This quaint penthouse loft sits in a bustling neighborhood of Manhattan. The client acquired it from the Landlord as an open “white box” finished with dark wood floors and a simple white pantry. The New York team wanted a similar “resimercial” vibe that was achieved in the Santa Monica space, but with a New York Sensibility.
Before Photos
It was important to the client that the space related aesthetically to the Santa Monica office and also had it’s own unique New York vibe. They absolutely loved the Speakeasy Lounge at the Santa Monica Office, and wanted to incorporate something fun and surprising in their space as well.
To accommodate the NY team, the space needed six private offices, ten open office workstations, three varying-sized meeting rooms, a copy room, a phone booth, a dining area, a welcoming lobby and a speakeasy bar closet!
This was certainly a challenge to fit everything into such a small space - every inch had to be utilized efficiently, without compromising aesthetic and comfort.
The Building is Very “New York”
The construction is similar to a brownstone in that the only daylight comes from windows provided on the short ends of the building. The lower four floors of the original building have a brick envelope, though this penthouse is a newer addition and lacked that original charm. The client wanted texture, layers… they wanted the materials to tell a story, so we decided to clad the long windowless walls of the Lobby, Large Meeting Room, and Medium Meeting Room in a white-glazed brick veneer. A feature moss wall framed with wooden ledges sat upon the brick wall in the Lobby to add some biophilia to the space and to lend a nice backdrop to their logo signage.
