Confidential Law Firm

Century City, California

35,000 SF

The design for this confidential law firm was the result of a design competition in hopes of winning the work. We ultimately did not win the project, though it remains to this day, one of my all-time favorite designs.

The project would have sat atop one of the Century Plaza Towers, spanning two floors. The grand lobby would also function as an entertaining space for small events and gatherings. A spacious double-height board room with telescoping doors opened to a coffee bar that could also serve cocktails for evening gatherings.

Offices line the perimeter in a traditional law firm layout, while assistant stations are consolidated to the intersecting corners fully utilize every plannable inch of space in this uniquely shaped building.

Prioritize the Views

The palette is soft and subtle so that the 360 degree views are enveloping. Acoustic treatments are artfully disguised in the acoustic slat walls and ceilings. A double height green wall further accentuates the lush Century City views, and the glowing triangular patterned ceiling above the grand waterfall staircase in the double height lobby space is a soft back-lit Barrisol treatment.
